We require a motivated individual with prior experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist and knowledge in the area of paediatrics and if possible paediatric diabetes. The applicant will have good interpersonal skills and an ability to work well as part of a team. They will also have good computer skills and competence in using digital technology.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting time to join our team within the Psychology department which provides input into a number of services. We are currently recruiting into Paediatric team which provides specialist support to the Family Health Clinical Service Unit as well as sitting within the Neurosciences CSU as part of the psychology directorate.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful candidate will work as a member of the team contributing to the existing paediatric diabetes pathway within North Tees and Hartlepool under the supervision of qualified psychologists, there may be some work across the Group structure. You will liaise with colleagues in health, education, social care and the voluntary sector as directed and required.

Knowledge
Essential
- An understanding of the needs of people with chronic physical health and/or other disabilities
- Demonstrates understanding of issues relating to confidentiality.
- Knowledge of the British Psychological Society Code of Conduct.
- High-level communication skills (written and verbal) including an ability to communicate and work in settings in which the atmosphere may be highly emotive.
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working within public health.
- Experience of working with people with health problems and/or disabilities
- Experience of data analysis and recording.
- Experience of conducting literature searches and reviews.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practice.
Desirable
- Experience of working in paediatrics
- Experience of psychometric test administration and interpretation
- Experience of providing individual or group interventions
- Experience of working alongside a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist
Qualifications
Essential
- Upper 2nd class honours degree, or higher, in psychology.
- Eligibility for graduate membership of British Psychological Society.
Desirable
- Further postgraduate training or experience in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis.
