We have a Healthcare vacancy on Medical Short Stay Unit (MSSU) Urgent Care, Which is a 22 bedded unit. We would like to hear from you if you are interested in joining out team to deliver the highest standard of care within out department.

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience in a health care role, although is not essential. You will be caring, compassionate, enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated to provide only the very best in-patient care.

Main duties of the job

As a Health Care Assistant you will be responsible for participating assisting in the delivery of care to patients. Provide safe and compassionate care of a high standard under the supervision of registered nurses, Assisting patients with the delivery of personal care and nutritional and dietary support. Recording observations and assessments of patients. Additional supportive tasks as directed by the registered nurse eg venepuncture, Catheter care, ECG ect.

You will receive direct supervision and training.

Job responsibilities

You will assist with washing and dressing patients, using hoists as appropriate.

You will assist with serving meals and feeding patients, including reporting on their intake and recording on charts as appropriate.

You will assist with toileting, escorting patients to and from the lavatory and recording outputs where necessary.

You will assist with monitoring patients' conditions by taking temperatures, pulse, respirations and weight

You will assist with patients mobilisation, ensuring safe environment and using appropriate techniques.

You will make beds and help to ensure the ward/department is kept clean, tidy and safe.

You will communicate with patients and their relatives with care and compassion.

You will help to ensure that patients are kept comfortable and receive personalised care.

You will be involved in patient booking in / admission, introducing patients to ward / department area as directed by registered nurse.

You will assist with the recording and safe keeping of patients property and valuables.

You will assist the multi professional team to prepare and support patients undergoing treatment and / or investigation maintaining privacy and dignity at all times.

You will safeguard vulnerable adults.

You will report to the nurse in charge of the ward / department matters of concern relating to patients and the ward / department environment.

You will undertake duties outside your working area (e.g. delivery and collection) to assist in maintaining good communication.

You will ensure the privacy and dignity of patients is met at all times.

You will be adaptable and flexible to working in various areas of the department or ward as required.
