We are currently recruiting for a rewarding career opportunity as a Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker on the Childrens Ward and Childrens Assessment Unit (CAU) within The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. We care for babies, children, and young people up to 16 years old. It is a busy ward caring for a wide range of specialities including medical and surgical patients, as well as children and young people with mental health conditions. We also have a Paediatric High Dependency Unit within the ward. We have a large and well-established team that work closely with the Paediatric UECC, the Paediatric Outreach Team and the Childrens Outpatient Clinic.We are seeking caring and enthusiastic applicants who will work closely with the nursing team to ensure a smooth journey for the children in our care. You must be an excellent communicator as liaising with children, families and the multidisciplinary team is essential. You will have a good understanding of IT systems, and be committed to delivering professional and friendly care.This is a full time post, please only apply if you are able to work 37.5 hours per week. The post-holder must be flexible as you will be expected to work both Day and Night shifts, across the whole week (Monday to Sunday). Main duties of the job

As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will provide both clinical and non-clinical support, helping to ensure families receive safe, person-centred care.Working in line with Trust policies and the Care Certificate standards, you will support patients with personal care, promote their comfort and dignity, and contribute to their overall wellbeing.Following appropriate competency assessment, you will undertake a range of delegated clinical tasks, including recording patient observations, blood glucose monitoring, urinalysis, blood gas analysis, ECGs, venepuncture, cannulation, wound care, removal of sutures, nasogastric/enteral feeding, fluid balance monitoring, skin assessments, respiratory virus point-of-care testing, height and weight measurements, and safeguarding checks. You will accurately document findings and promptly report any concerns to the Registered Nurse.You will work within your scope of practice, undertaking only those duties for which you have been trained and assessed as competent. You will also support the wider team by assisting with patient chaperoning, transporting equipment and supplies, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and contributing to the effective running of the service.
