We have a vacancy in our team for a diagnostic radiology Medical Physics Expert due to the promotion of the current post-holder.

Main duties of the job
- Provide expert advice on a range of x-ray imaging equipment including CT, interventional radiology, and radiographic systems
- Carry out commissioning, acceptance, and routine QA testing of a range of x-ray equipment
- Optimise clinical protocols
- Carry out other duties as required of an MPE
- Participate in the provision of scientific support in matters relating to the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 as required

Qualifications
Essential
- MSc in medical physics or radiation physics
- Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration as a Clinical Scientist
- Registered with RPA2000 as a Medical Physics Expert
Desirable
- Registered with RPA2000 as a Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA)
- Registered with RPA2000 as a Radioactive Waste Adviser (RWA)
- Fellowship of the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine
Other requirements
Essential
- Knowledge of radiation protection legislation in healthcare and biomedical research
- Ability to use own initiative
Previous experience
Essential
- Evidence of experience at post registration level as a Clinical Scientist in radiation protection and radiological physics
Desirable
- Experience of ionising radiation, including work within diagnostic radiology and work with radioactive substances
- Experience in the provision of a medical physics service
- Experience in business planning
- Experience of budget management
Knowledge, skills, aptitudes
Essential
- Extensive specialist knowledge of radiation protection and radiological physics
- Ability to communicate scientific concepts to other staff
- Ability to work with staff in different disciplines
- Good organisational skills
Desirable
- Range of IT skills including image analysis and DICOM tools
- Good communication and presentation skills
