Job summary
Larksfield and Arlesey Medical Partnership is seeking a skilled and compassionate HCA to join our friendly clinical team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HCA who enjoys working in a patient-focused primary care environment and being part of a supportive multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will support the delivery of high-quality patient care by undertaking a wide range of clinical and non-clinical duties within the healthcare setting. Responsibilities include carrying out venepuncture procedures on patients of all ages in line with current clinical guidelines, undertaking essential wound care appointments, performing NHS Health Checks, recording and monitoring patient observations, and carrying out ECGs as required. The role also involves assisting clinicians during procedures and examinations, supporting patients with their care needs, and promoting patient wellbeing through compassionate and professional care.
Additional duties include accurately labelling and processing samples, maintaining infection prevention and control standards, preparing and stocking clinical rooms, and ensuring equipment is clean, safe, and ready for use. You will be expected to maintain clear and accurate patient records, manage workload efficiently, provide reassurance and support to patients, and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, clinicians, and administrative staff to ensure the smooth and effective running of the service.

Job responsibilities
Larksfield and Arlesey Medical Partnership is looking for an experienced and compassionate Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our dedicated primary care team. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide high-quality patient care in a supportive and friendly environment.
- Undertake a range of clinical duties including venepuncture, ECGs, NHS Health Checks, wound care, and recording patient observations in line with practice protocols and current clinical guidelines.
- Support clinicians during consultations, procedures, and examinations where required.
- Accurately label, process, and store blood samples, ensuring compliance with laboratory, infection control, and health and safety procedures.
- Prepare and maintain clinical rooms, equipment, and medical supplies to ensure safe and effective patient care.
- Provide reassurance, support, and compassionate care to patients of all ages, maintaining professionalism at all times.
- Maintain accurate patient records and data entry using the clinical system in line with practice policies and GDPR requirements.
- Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure smooth workflow and effective patient care delivery.
- Follow all safeguarding, confidentiality, infection prevention, and health and safety procedures.
- Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00am 2:00pm
- 25 to 30 hours per week, flexible within this range depending on practice needs
- Proven experience working as a Healthcare Assistant within a GP practice, primary care, or clinical setting.
- Competency in venepuncture, ECGs, wound care, NHS Health Checks, and basic clinical observations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a caring and empathetic approach.
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload efficiently.
- Awareness of health and safety, infection prevention and control, safeguarding, and data protection standards.
