An exciting opportunity has arisen on C14A. The role of the HCA is to assist in maintaining the highest possible standard of care under the supervision of a Registered nurse. To maintain a tidy and welcoming environment for patients and relatives. The staff will be involved with many members of the MDT.
Main duties of the job
The ward is a busy, modern unit with a professional but friendly team delivering high standards of care. We are looking for a highly enthusiastic, motivated and committed support worker to deliver high quality holistic nursing care to patients and to join our forward thinking and ever developing team. You should have good communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to work effectively as part of the team and deal with complex sensitive information in a professional manner.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Responsible for providing a range of personalised care for patients under the guidance and supervision of a registered nurse including: assisting patients with personal hygiene, toileting, use of continence aids, catheter care, measuring patient output, support patients nutritional and hydration needs, moving and handling, use of mobility appliances, correct patient positioning, ensuring patient safety, taking specimens and observing patients for changes in condition.
To support the productive operation of the ward environment by undertaking a range of non-clinical activities which contribute to the maintenance of a safe and clean environment.

Experience
Essential
- Extensive experience in a caring role (usually 12 months), or Step Into ELHT (via bank initially) or Level 2 Health and Social Care qualification and completion of First Steps programme
- Basic computer skills
Desirable
- Performing HCA Band 2 role to good level with testimony from Ward/Team manager
Qualifications
Essential
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills
- Willing to undertake further training
Desirable
- Successful completion of the Care Certificate
- Successful completion of Higher HCA role
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
- Ability to understand and comply with procedures
- Clear communicator with effective listening skills
