We are looking to recruit a Healthcare Assistant in our busy Bassetlaw and Retford Outpatient Department. Clinics cover Multi Specialties which include Medical, Surgical, Vascular and many more. What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience as a Healthcare Support Worker
  • Completion of the Care Certificate or willingness to complete
  • Relevant healthcare qualification (or evidence of 12 months equivalent experience).
  • If you lack certified clinical skills in Vital Signs and Blood Glucose and Ketones Monitoring, and care certificate, you'll start as Band 2 Trainee Healthcare Assistant, with progression to Band 3 upon completion of training.
  • Must be able to drive and have access to a vehicle, this post includes cross site working to Retford Outpatient department. Please note there is no shuttle bus service available to the Retford Hospital site

Main duties of the job

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide essential personal care, including bathing, dressing, and assisting with meals.
  • Monitor patients' conditions, including vital signs and NEWS (National Early Warning Scores).
  • Collect specimens such as urine, stool, wound swabs, and COVID-19 tests.
  • Support clinical procedures after appropriate training (e.g., ECG recording, cannulation, blood sampling).
  • Assist nursing and medical staff during clinical procedures using aseptic techniques.
  • Offer encouragement and support for lifestyle and behaviour changes.
