Do you enjoy a challenge? Avondale Clinical Decisions Unit are looking to recruit two enthusiastic band 3 healthcare assistants to joint our established multi-disciplinary team.

Avondale is a 14 bedded mixed sex assessment unit which offers service users intensive, high quality, personal centred interventions and assessment utilising a trauma informed model/approach. This aids decisions to provide further support in the community or signpost to treatment units for further intervention.

The successful candidate must be committed, motivated and have an empathetic and understanding approach to the people who access our service. They need to have an appropriate level of self-awareness and the ability to utilise their initiative when working with often complex and challenging situations.

The successful candidate will be given regular supervision, guidance and support. There will be opportunities for further development and training.

Main duties of the job

Avondale is a 14 bedded mixed unit which provides assessment and intervention for people experiencing increased mental health difficulties. As part of the forever adapting role the successful candidate will be required to: - Provide and receive routine information requiring reassurance, empathy and de-escalation skills. - Demonstrate good interpersonal skills when managing individuals with complex needs. - To support patients throughout their admission including supporting individuals during their crisis period. - Support individuals in completing relevant assessment paperwork such as Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Tool, Recovering and Quality of Life alongside physical health assessments such as the Health Improvement Profile. - To help facilitate therapeutic intervention and distraction techniques for our service users.  -  To undertake basic physical testing using the National Early Warning Score tool and report any significant findings to the nurse in charge. - To maintain up to date knowledge and skills relevant to the field of practice. - Work effectively as part of the multi-disciplinary team and report any concerns to the nurse in charge – including a change in a patient’s presentation which may be observed through observation or supportive engagements.  -  To recognise and respond to emergency situations accordingly.
