As a Health in Pregnancy Advisor, you'll work closely with our Specialist Stop Smoking Midwife, providing essential information, social support, and psychological care to pregnant women and their families. You’ll engage with expectant mothers in various settings, offering personalized guidance and encouragement to help them embrace a healthier lifestyle during pregnancy.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and Support Clients: Oversee a caseload of clients, adjusting your workload to provide tailored smoking cessation support that meets their unique needs.
  • Engage and Empower Vulnerable Groups: Connect with and support vulnerable, hard-to-reach clients as part of a multidisciplinary team, communicating sensitive information with empathy and care.
  • Promote Lasting Behaviour Change: Utilise motivational interviewing techniques to encourage positive behaviour changes in clients.
  • Conduct Comprehensive Assessments: Perform detailed health and social assessments for pregnant women, including those who are vulnerable, and guide them to additional services as needed.
  • Deliver Best Practice Support: Provide smoking cessation services in line with NHS best practices, the long-term plan, and NICE guidelines, visiting clients in their homes and other healthcare settings.
  • Advise on Treatments: Recommend and provide appropriate treatments, including nicotine replacement therapy and vapes, offering support to wider family members where necessary, and ensure accurate data recording using carbon monoxide monitors.
  • Data collection: To support upward reporting and audit
