Holly Ward is an assessment ward covering Shropshire. Sometimes we have patients from other areas. We provide care for males and females with acute mental illness.

Main duties of the job

  • Position is open to part time applicants
  • To provide support and spend therapeutic time with an allocated group of service users with mental health needs.
  • To promote service user’s recovery through the delivery of high quality, outcome measured care and evidence-based interventions.
  • To assist Registered Professionals in the implementation and evaluation of individualised care plans
  • Regularly report and effectively communicate service users’ health status and care aims in care records and verbal reports to Registered Professional Staff members and other members of the multi-disciplinary team, including while supporting section 136 assessments and ECT treatment

Here on Oak ward we provide inpatient facilities for older adult’s mental health problems, and we are looking for caring, compassionate individual to work within our older adult inpatient team who are committed to providing high quality care and treatment to our patients. Working in an older adult environment can be challenging, but with the right team, positive attitude, and resilience we are rising to the challenge and reaping the reward of being able to support people during their most challenging times.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working as part of a team and delivering a customer focused service.

Desirable

  • Experience of working with people with Mental Health needs as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience of working with Older Adults with Mental Health Needs

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ 2 in Health and Social Care with demonstrable evidence of numeracy and literacy skills (equivalent GCSE’s or Functional Skills)

Skills & Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge and awareness of issues relating to mental health, access to mental health services, and mental health promotion.
  • Skills in managing situations of high expressed emotions, and an ability to manage one’s own emotional state.
  • Skills in literacy, written, verbal and an ability to effectively use electronic information and computer technology.
