Demonstrate knowledge of personal care and related procedures.
Undertake all training and development courses deemed appropriate for the role as specified by Trust policy and procedure.
Recognise own level of competence and limitations to ensure safe practice.
Adhere to the Trust’s uniform policy.
Actively participate in the Trust’s appraisal system.
Support nurses and healthcare professionals in assisting patients in maintaining their personal hygiene needs prescribed in their individual plan of care (e.g. washing, bathing, dressing, toileting, care of nails, hair care etc).
Support and observe the patient, reporting to the registered nurse/healthcare professional any changes that might affect the patients’ health and well-being.
Responsibility for Financial & Physical Resources:
Ensure careful use of ward/department equipment; handling of patient valuables; order ward supplies.
Maintain stock controls.
Responsibility for Information Resources:
Contribute to the updating of patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality at all times and in line with the Data Protection Act (1998).
