Job overview
We seek an experienced and ambitious Head of Radiopharmacy to lead our large, regional, MHRA Specials Licenced Radiopharmacy Service. This is an exciting opportunity to shape service delivery and support the growth of Nuclear Medicine services within Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and the wider region. This role provides strategic and operational leadership, ensuring the safe, efficient and compliant production and supply of radiopharmaceuticals, leading a highly skilled multidisciplinary team.
The post-holder also acts as regional coordinator for Radiopharmacies across the South Yorkshire and Humber area and will be key to developing a regional strategy for the future provision of regional radiopharmacy services to improve service delivery, capacity and resilience. They are expected to provide a key link for the region into the UK Radiopharmacy Group.
Face to face interviews will be held on Thursday 8th October 2026.
Departmental tours prior to interview can be arranged.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
- Lead the Radiopharmacy Service and its workforce.
- Ensure compliance with MHRA and other regulatory requirements.
- Drive service development, innovation and quality improvement.
- Work closely with both the Nuclear Medicine Section Head and Technical Manager to manage resources, budgets and workforce planning effectively across the whole service.
- Work closely with Radiopharmacy teams in other Trusts across the region in provision of robust regional radiopharmaceutical supply.
- Support research, education and the introduction of new radiopharmaceuticals.
- Build strong relationships with clinical, scientific and managerial colleagues.
We are looking for a leader with expert radiopharmacy knowledge, excellent communication and leadership skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care.
