Job overview

The role is responsible for the management and delivery of a cost effective, efficient, and responsive financial management services to the Trust. The post holder will manage and lead the centralised corporate finance function which incorporates financial accounting, planning, and reporting services.

The role will involve regular complex and highly confidential communication with internal and external stakeholders, including budget holders, senior leaders and auditors.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide expert financial accounting advice, effective leadership and clear direction to the team and colleagues across the Trust.

The role will work to establish and maintain excellent relationships with other partners and stakeholders. One of the key responsibilities is to ensure the Chief Finance Officer and Deputy Chief Finance Officer are kept informed of all key management issues and escalation requirements relating to service areas.

The post holder will contribute to developing a culture of strong financial stewardship within the Trust, promoting the need for probity, economy, efficiency and effectiveness and value for money in all aspects of the Trust’s business.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • ·       Prepare consolidated statements, produce statutory accounts, associated notes and working papers and complete financial aspects of the Annual Report ahead of deadlines.
  • ·       Leading on and providing monthly, financial analytical review for the Trust.
  • ·       Leading on Capital asset management (purchased and leased assets), monitoring and reporting.
  • ·       Lead on Business Cases – develop, review, identify opportunities and threats – mitigate against risks. Complete full evaluation of proposals
  • ·       Leading on and ensuring adherence to IFRS/IAS/IFRIC/GAM – Carry out impact assessment and implementation of rules.
  • ·       Leading on external and internal audit exercise for the Trust and Charitable Account that will require coordination of the non-financial element. Attend and present papers at Committee meetings.
  • ·       Leading on responding to Freedom of Information (FOI) requests which require financial information and input within set deadlines.
