Main duties of the job
As a Head Chef at Barchester, you will have the chance to deliver hotel/restaurant standards without the split shifts and long hours. You will lead, motivate, and inspire your team, develop, and upskill them where required. Menu development will be tailored around residents to ensure person-centred hospitality, using fresh produce to deliver high-quality and wholesome dishes. This role involves baking fresh cakes, scones, and breads from scratch, assisting the front of house team in setting up dining areas, working within budget, completing regular audits and stock control, and creating a warm, efficient, and fun environment. Ongoing recruitment and retention, along with managing the performance of the kitchen team and front of house, is also key. We offer full autonomy in creating nutritious, flavoursome, and well-balanced menus while taking ownership of your kitchen and ongoing team development. Joining our Barchester Chef Academy grants you the opportunity to learn new techniques, further develop skills, and share your knowledge to support others' growth. Our Learning and Development team offers industry-recognised apprenticeships and further qualifications for those looking to build upon their skills.
