Job summary
Working under the direction of the GP Partners and as part of a multidisciplinary primary care team, the post-holder will provide a high-quality clinical service across three practice sites: Springfield Surgery, Feniscowles Surgery and Pringle Street Surgery.
The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking venepuncture, ECGs, and administering simple injections under Patient Specific Directions (PSDs), ensuring all procedures are carried out safely, effectively, and in accordance with practice protocols and national guidelines.
In addition to clinical duties, the post-holder will support the smooth day-to-day running of the service by undertaking administrative responsibilities, including stock monitoring and re-ordering of clinical supplies, equipment checks, audits, and other delegated tasks as required.
This is a full time or part timepost; however, the hours are negotiable for the right candidate. The successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly across Springfield Surgery, Feniscowles Surgery and Pringle Street Surgery to meet the needs of the service while delivering high standards of patient care.
Main duties of the job
- Obtaining Patient consent for the collection of bloods samples.
- Performing venepuncture in accordance with practice protocols.
- Maintain accurate patient records on the clinical system.
- The correct labelling, packing and storing of samples.
- Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner.
- Maintaining an effective liaison with the laboratory staff.
- Working collaboratively with the clinical team and seeking guidance when necessary for patient related matters.
- Perform ECGs
- Carry out simple injections under PSDs
