Job overview

The HART Team Educator (TE) will be an experienced HART Operative reporting to and acting on behalf of the HART Training Manager when required. The HART Team Educator is responsible for the compliance of staff training to enable the delivery of patient care in their HART team against national and trust standards, ensuring compliance against commissioning requirements. The post holder will promote the trust values, encouraging staff to continuously improve the care and clinical quality of the service they provide to patients, they will exercise autonomy, decision making, judgement and discretion, at a level appropriate to this role, delivering clear leadership and subject matter (HART) expertise by personally demonstrating the highest organisational, professional and personals standards in the best interest of patients and the Trust. This will be while working collaboratively with the teams associated Team Leader.

During operational shifts there is a requirement to fulfil the role of the shift Team Leader, or work clinically as an operative on a dual or solo crewed resource.

  • Will work closely with other emergency service personnel at incidents in line with well-established Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Principles (JESIP).
  • Must be prepared to be deployed to protracted incidents and, where necessary, in support of mutual aid requests to other Trusts where they could be away from home for a number of nights, at little or no notice.

  • Adhere to Trust policies and best practice thereby maintaining and promoting the highest professional standards, including clinical practice, conduct, attendance and compliance with the dress code.
  • Demonstrate and maintain a positive attitude and commitment to Equal Opportunities and diversity.
  • Agree Personal Development Review (PDR) with all direct reports. Appraise performance and provide feedback to ensure local objectives and Personal Development Plans are achieved. Deal fairly and rigorously with underperformance.
  • Attend identified courses to maintain and increase personal knowledge base, including trust management training.
  • Develop specialised knowledge of HART principles, capabilities and procedures.
  • To maintain competencies through continuation training, both practical and theoretical and be included into the HART PRV rota.
  • Attend and complete nationally required training programmes.
  • Be responsible for personal contribution to the development of HART and where necessary, the testing and evaluation of new initiatives.
  • Enhance own performance through continuously developing own knowledge, skills and behaviours to meet the current and future requirements of the job and respond to the learning needs of the Trust.

Qualifications

Essential

  • HCPC Registered Paramedic
  • Teaching/Assessing qualification (NVQ level 3 or above)

Previous Experience

Essential

  • Qualified HART Operative (Modules 1-4)
  • Operational ambulance experience.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
  • Evidence of working in a multi-agency environment.

Desirable

  • Experience of Incident Management
  • Training or teaching experience

Physical Requirements

Essential

  • Ability to work effectively at height and other areas of difficult access.
  • Ability to work effectively in enclosed, confined spaces.
  • Capable of swimming 100 metres.

Knowledge,Skills,Aptitude

Essential

  • Ability to maintain high standards of clinical care and health and safety, even in stressful and challenging situations.
  • Demonstrate effective written, verbal and listening communication skills.
  • Ability to provide structured briefings during an incident and post- incident de-brief for your team.
  • Ability to actively contribute to multi-agency post-incident structured de briefs and recommend changes for improvement where required.
  • Understanding of and have a demonstrable commitment to Equal Opportunities and Diversity, both as a colleague and as a provider of a service to the public. derstanding of the trust’s risk management system and ability to undertake formal and Dynamic Operational Risk Assessments and manage risk in accordance with these procedures.
  • Ability to conduct investigations into any accident or other untoward incident relating to HART in accordance with local procedures, and completing the relevant paperwork in the appropriate manner
  • Ability to objectively assess competence and develop strategies to address arising needs.
  • Organisational skills to maintain oversight on areas of responsibility, including planning, delegating and recording training.
