Job summary
An exciting opportunity has become available for Clinical Team Mentors to join the well established team within HART on Teams C & G
The post-holder will develop the concept of Clinical Mentorship within HART to ensure that all HART Staff are supported through means of observation and evaluation and are astute to their clinical responsibility and therefore, patient outcome.

Job responsibilities
Maintain Professional Registration as a Paramedic and undertake continual professional development, to maintain skill levels and knowledge. Carry out procedures in accordance with JRCALC, Trust and National Guidance that is within the organisations permitted scope of practice
To recognise and report to the appropriate authorities any concerns regarding Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults through a single point of access.
Adherence to the drug and medication legislation such as: Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 - 2001 regulations, prescriptions Only Medication Act 1968,1997 Amendments Act 1992.
Adherence to the law governing the use and documentation of controlled drugs used and carried within the Trust.
Conduct dynamic risk assessments when responding to incidents for protection of yourself, your crewmate and members of the public and to ensure scene safety, as physical or verbal abuse may be present on occasions.
When required, and until relieved by an appropriate officer, liaise with members of the other Emergency Services undertakes an incident management role as expected within the JESIP principles.
Knowledge of how to deal with situations involving multiple casualties including road traffic collisions and fires involving trapped or injured persons and be able to discuss the management of these cases with students and staff members.
Exercise clinical judgement in implementing emergency care, treatment plans and where appropriate required utilising Alternative Care Pathways.
When indicated exercise clinical judgment for the administration of a range of drugs relevant to the patients needs and appropriate to the skill level of a WMAS Registered Paramedic. This will include the use of controlled drugs.
Communicate effectively with clinicians to be able to challenge behaviour and address poor practice, escalating concerns to a manager when required
Accurately and factually complete all WMAS documentation including confidential details as required by the organisation. On occasions individuals may be expected to give evidence to HM Coroner or a court.
Plan and undertake clinical supervision on a range of staff within the HUB providing mentorship and supervision on activities and subjects set out by the trust each year.
Support clinicians maintain their clinical competency through mentorship, providing accurate and structured feedback, escalating concerns to a manager. Managers may decide to implement an action plan to improve an individuals competency within the workplace under the relevant policies and procedures, which mentors can use to report on and measure progress against.
Responsibility to coach and mentor new and existing clinical staff when they are adopting new or refreshing existing clinical practices or new ways of working.
Support where required, students in the completion of their portfolios or workbooks towards the relevant qualifications, providing assessments and documenting progress against the relevant learning outcomes or assessment areas.
Complete the necessary report following completion of a clinical supervision shift with a clinician.
Facilitate the review of cases as requested by local management teams or the trusts Patient Safety department, to identify areas for improvement or learning, or positive areas of achievement or practice. This will be reported on the relevant trust template back to the organisation. This will be inline with the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework.
Act as a point of contact for staff with clinical queries or advice and know when and where to seek advice from if further information is required.
Maintain a smart appearance at all times, in conjunction with the organisations uniform policy and any other relevant policy.
Adherence to the Code of Conduct, Operational Instructions, Quality Procedures, Data Protection, Caldicott procedures and any other verbal or written instructions promulgated by the organisation currently or in the future.
Clinical Team Mentors should behave as expected within the organisations Code of Conduct and other policies, ensuring that they maintain a professional relationship with colleagues and patients. This includes adherence to the trusts Sexual Safety charter.
To participate in patient trials or audits where requested by the organisation.
Maintain a professional portfolio with evidence of ongoing clinical and reflective practice. Undertake additional training to develop and maintain your skills in order to support and advise staff.
