An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 4 Technical Instructor to join the Harrow Falls Service at Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust (CLCH).
Working as part of a friendly and supportive multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality rehabilitation and falls prevention interventions to adults within the community. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a real difference by supporting people to improve their mobility, confidence, and independence while reducing their risk of falls.
You will work closely with Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Nurses, delivering delegated assessments, rehabilitation programmes and falls prevention interventions. The role also includes leading group exercise sessions, promoting healthy lifestyles, and supporting patients and carers to achieve their rehabilitation goals.

Main duties of the job
- To be actively involved in carrying out specific Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy assessments and interventions with clients independently as delegated by an Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist or nurse and compliment and provide continuity of work of the qualified staff.
- To independently complete basic Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and nursing assessments and Multi-disciplinary Falls Assessments with clients, incorporating analytical, investigative and physical skills.
- To independently complete basic activity of daily living assessments, incorporating analytical, investigative and physical skills; these could include personal ADL’s, hot drink and meal preparation.
- To independently carry out basic assessments of mobility and transfers and prescribe appropriate equipment and educate carers and patients in the safe and appropriate use of this equipment, maintenance and fitting of equipment.
- To assist in completing risk assessment of the environment and safety within the home under the guidance of senior team members following local and Trust policies, incorporating analytical, investigative and physical skills.
- With the appropriate training the TI will plan, design and deliver higher level strength and balance groups for patients/clients with a history or high risk of falls who have been identified as suitable for group exercise by the Falls Specialist Therapists.

Essential
- Hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010)
Experience
Essential
- Minimum of two years’ experience as a Therapy Assistant working in health or similar post.
- Experience of working as part of a community team
- Experience with the use of Microsoft Office and a variety of databases.
Desirable
- Experience of working as part of falls a team
- Experience with the NHS patient information database (EMIS)
Skills & Knowledge
Essential
- Demonstrate an acceptable level of numeracy and literacy
- An awareness of risk management
- Knowledge of multi agency services available and processes for referral
- Knowledge of the effects of the ageing process and needs of vulnerable adults in relation to their health and well-being
- Good analytical and problem solving skills
- Basic competency training in: Mobility assessment, progression of mobility stair assessment, passive movement, passive stretches, individual exercise programme, falls prevention; knowledge of hip and knee fractures
- Experience in assessment of Personal and Domestic Activities of Daily Living and carrying out these tasks with clients to improve ability.
Desirable
- Knowledge of local health needs strategies

Essential
- Higher Professional Diploma in Health and Wellbeing (NVQ/QCF – Level 3) or A recognised equivalent course
- Willingness to undertake further training as appropriate

- GCSE grade A-C or equivalent in English and Maths
- ECDL certificate
- Trusted Assessor trained
- PSI qualification
