Job overview

  • To provide professional and clinical leadership and expert care in the specialty of haemophilia and related disorders and to act as a resource for education and clinical expertise in hospital, network and community settings.
  • To liaise effectively with all members of the multi-professional healthcare team to achieve co-ordinated specialist service.
  • To act autonomously within scope of practice, guided by current clinical protocols and research protocols and relevant investigations and procedures employed in the diagnosis and treatment of haemophilia and related disorders.
  • To be expert in the assessment and management of haemophilia and related disorders.
  • To offer an individual comprehensive service and psychological support to patients and carers respecting their diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
  • To maintain local and national databases from which to audit patients and their outcomes.
  • To work across hospital sites where this is indicated and as the needs of the service change.
  • To escalate any clinical issues to the appropriate team member.

Main duties of the job

‘A highly experienced, knowledgeable and educated member of the team who is able to work autonomously making high level decisions to treat health needs’.

  • Working within the Haemophilia Team as a Haemophilia CNS, caring for Adult patients.
  • The nurse will work in collaboration with other Haemophilia CNS’s to support the consultants in providing patient reviews, patient and family community support, GP support, as well as establishing a robust nursing education programme.
