Reporting directly to the Partner, you will lead the management team, work closely with our clinical leads, and ensure that each site is well run, compliant, financially sound and focused on continuous improvement.

This is a senior role for someone who is confident across every aspect of general practice management, who is comfortable holding others to account, and who enjoys working in a busy, forward-thinking environment.

Location and Working Arrangements This is an on-site role, based at one of our four practices. As our sites are all within a 10-minute drive of each other, you will be expected to be willing and able to travel to and work from each of them as required.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Group Oversight You will provide leadership and direction to the Practice Managers and management support team, coordinating with the GP and clinical leads to ensure all sites run smoothly and consistently. This will include:

  • Directing and supporting Practice Managers in the day-to-day running of each site.
  • Coordinating clinical leads and practice management so that clinical and operational priorities are aligned.
  • Setting priorities, delegating work and ensuring actions are completed on time and to a high standard.
  • Holding regular management meetings and following up on agreed actions.
  • Reporting directly to the Partners on group performance, risks and progress.
  • Promoting a positive, professional and supportive culture across the group.

KPIs, Scorecards & Performance Monitoring

  • Directing work on KPIs and performance targets across all sites.
  • Monitoring scorecards, identifying variation between practices and driving improvement.
  • Ensuring action plans are agreed, implemented and followed through.
  • Producing clear performance reports for the Partners and wider management team.

Governance, Compliance & CQC You will hold overall responsibility for group-wide governance and for ensuring every practice is inspection-ready at all times. This will include:

  • Maintaining effective governance systems and processes across all sites.
  • Overseeing CQC readiness, internal audits and mock inspections.
  • Ensuring compliance with CQC, ICB and other regulatory and professional requirements.
  • Ensuring policies and procedures are current, consistently implemented and regularly reviewed.
  • Overseeing risk management, significant events and learning.
  • Keeping up to date with changes in legislation, guidance and regulation.

HR & Payroll

  • Overall responsibility for HR across the group, including recruitment, induction, contracts, performance management, absence, disciplinary and grievance processes.
  • Submission of monthly payroll, ensuring it is accurate, timely and compliant.
  • Overseeing staff training, development and mandatory training compliance.
  • Workforce planning to ensure safe and sustainable staffing across all sites.
  • Ensuring HR policies and employment practice meet legal requirements.

Finance

  • Overall responsibility for financial management, budgets and forecasting across the group.
  • Oversight of NHS income, including QOF, Enhanced Services and other claims, ensuring all income is identified, claimed and maximised.
  • Monitoring expenditure, controlling costs and identifying efficiencies.
  • Working with accountants and the Partners on financial reporting and planning.

Enhanced Services

  • Oversight of all local and direct enhanced services, ensuring delivery in line with agreed requirements and targets.
  • Reviewing KPIs and tracking performance against targets across each site.
  • Working with Practice Managers and recall teams to maximise uptake and ensure timely follow-up.

Premises & Building Management

  • Overall responsibility for premises across all four sites, including maintenance, health and safety, fire safety, and building compliance.
  • Managing contractors, leases, landlords and service agreements.
  • Overseeing capital projects, refurbishments and estates planning.
  • Ensuring all buildings are safe, well maintained and fit for purpose.

Practice Growth & Marketing We are ambitious about the future and want to grow our patient lists and strengthen our presence in our local communities. You will lead the growth strategy, including:

  • Developing and delivering initiatives to support patient list growth.
  • Overseeing marketing, social media and patient communications.
  • Identifying opportunities to expand and promote new and existing services.
  • Exploring partnerships, new contracts and opportunities for development.

About You We are looking for an experienced senior manager who is confident, organised and commercially aware, with the authority to lead managers and the resilience to drive change.

You will ideally have:

  • Significant experience as a Practice Manager, Group Manager or equivalent senior role in general practice.
  • Experience of managing multiple sites or leading a team of managers.
  • A strong understanding of NHS general practice, contracts and funding.
  • Excellent knowledge of CQC requirements and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience of HR, payroll and employment law.
  • Strong financial skills, including budgets, NHS claims and income maximisation.
  • Experience of managing premises and facilities.
  • Experience of working with ICBs, PCNs and other external organisations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and people-management skills.
  • The ability to analyse data, interpret KPIs and scorecards, and turn them into action.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines.
  • A proactive approach to governance, risk management and continuous improvement.
  • Confidence in challenging performance and holding others to account.
  • Willingness and ability to travel between our four sites.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who takes ownership, pays attention to detail and wants to make a genuine difference to how our group operates.
