Main duties of the job

The General Practitioner Clinical Lead is a key position responsible for delivering high-quality clinical care to patients while ensuring the operational effectiveness of the practice. This role requires collaboration with the clinical leads and local practice team to fulfill the surgeries' operational plan. The GP Clinical Lead is expected to maintain quality assurance within the practice by engaging in clinical governance activities and participating in initiatives aimed at improving health outcomes. The role involves clinical responsibilities such as patient consultations (in person and via video), telephone triage, clinical administration, and safeguarding, among others. The ideal candidate will be an experienced doctor with GP accreditation, holding a current registration with the GMC and NHS performers list. A solid understanding of the Quality and Outcomes Framework and relevant coding systems is crucial. Proficiency in clinical systems such as SystmOne or EMISweb is desirable. Main Responsibilities:

As a valued member of the Operose Health team, your key duties will include:

  • To deliver high quality clinical care to the patients registered and attending the GP surgery and to work closely with the clinical leads and local practice team to support the delivery of the surgeries operational plan.
  • You will strive to maintain qualify within the practice ensuring participation in clinical governance activity and contribute to the improvement in qualify health outcomes through audit and the Quality and Outcomes Framework and contributing to the practice achieving other qualify standards to include CQC standards.
  • To provide clinical care to patients as described in the job plan and in line with the total triage model. This will include consultation sessions (both in person and by video), telephone triage, correspondence, results, medication reviews and prescription signing and other clinical administration, safeguarding lead, medicals, reports, home visits, surgery meetings and on-call (excluding out of hours).
  • To adhere to the highest personal and professional standards as set out by the GMC and to put individual patient care as your priority.
  • Working with the Practice Manager and site clinical lead to support the development, delivery and review of the surgery action plan including list growth, patient satisfaction levels, QOF, enhanced services, KPI targets, resource profile and cost management. You willtake part in leading on key disease areas (monitoring trends in the Quality and Outcomes Framework, Diabetes 8 Care Processes and Triple Target control, immunisation uptake, screening uptake, local KPIs, staff training and prescribing) and assist in developing appropriate healthcare services for a diverse, patient list (NHS Choices and GP Patient Survey, patient participation and health promotion). You will have responsibility for overall practice performance to deliver care in line with contracted values, locally and Nationally Enhanced Schemes. They will also be expected to attend and represent Operose Health in locality and GP Federation meetings on behalf of the practice. Working in partnership with the practice manager to attain all CQC, local and contracted requirements Ensuring that SEAs and incidents are appropriately investigated and fed back and establishing a strong safety culture.

  • Current registration with GMC and NHS performers list and engaged in regular clinical work.
  • An experienced doctor with GP accreditation - MRCGP examination or equivalent experience.
  • Clear commitment to delivering quality and patient focused services.
  • Sound knowledge of QOF, LCS, DES, CQUINs and use of appropriate coding.
  • Ideally have a working knowledge of clinical systems such as SystmOne or EMISweb.
