Job overview

To Work in the Portering  Department at Conquest Hospital on a alternating shift pattern.

Monday to Sunday 0800-1600 and 1430-0000  on a alternating shift pattern

Will also be trained to work in the waste department to cover shifts as and when required

Main duties of the job

Movement of patients, escort of patients and visitors.

  • In the absence of the mortuary assistant to: Arrange access to the mortuary for appropriate persons as directed. It may be necessary to assist Ambulance crews and/or Contracted Funeral Director during admission.

Deliveries

  • To provide a collection and delivery service as required for internal specimens, theatre/x-ray lists.

Equipment, Furniture and Fittings

  • Patient related equipment to be clean and in good repair, defects to be reported to the Duty Team Leader.
  • Furniture and other equipment to be moved around the hospitals when and where required

Medical Gas

  • The delivery of empty/full cylinders as required. This will include manifold rooms and  associated piped gas systems.
  • To attend to or report any defects with the medical gas supply as required.

Emergency Procedures

  • To attend the appropriate ward or department immediately with the appropriate equipment and assistance upon hearing the alarms for: Cardiac arrest / Lucas Machine Major incident, Hazchem and CBRN incidents Traumas Helicopter landing Fire alarm Patient Collapse
