We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Operational Manager to join our team as General Manager for Urgent, Emergency and Acute Care on a 12-month fixed-term basis to cover a secondment.

This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality, safe, and efficient services across Emergency and Acute Medicine. You will work closely with clinical and operational teams to ensure patient flow, performance targets, and service improvement initiatives are delivered effectively.

Main duties of the job

The role of the General Manager for Urgent, Emergency and Acute care, within Integrated Adult Care (IAC) is to deliver the following services in line with the Trust’s patient promises and the Directorate’s focus on patient safety and patient experience:

  • Emergency Department (A&E)
  • Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC)
  • Acute Medical Unit.
  • Medical Same Day Emergency Care (MSDEC)
  • Croydon Urgent Care Alliance (CUCA)

This is a high profiled leadership role within the Trust with an emphasis on operational delivery but also contributing to strategic director of the IAC Directorate.

The post holder will work with the ADO and Clinical Business Unit Leads to lead a team that will deliver the Trust’s patient promises within Acute Emergency services.  The focus will be on ensuring the delivery of excellence with respect to patient experience and safety.

The post holder will make a contribution to the Trust’s overall strategic direction.

The post holder will deliver the relevant Trust targets, standards, KPIs and contractual requirements of GP commissioners, including through active negotiations with GPs and other commissioners.
