Main duties of the job

Thee main duties are to manage inpatients or the team caseload and the day-to-day workload of the service, attend ward rounds, team meetings and CPA meetings, carry out risk assessments and develop risk management and care plans, monitor patients’ physical health including examinations and investigations, liaise with GPs and other internal and external professionals, attend external patient meetings when needed, make safeguarding referrals, and maintain accurate clinical records including reports, letters, discharge summaries, and electronic notes. The role also includes taking part in audit, research, quality improvement, service development, teaching, team meetings, and reflective practice.

Essential

  • Fully Registered Medical Practitioner
  • Experience of working as a doctor in the NHS for at least two years
  • Excellent Communication Skills

Desirable

  • Experience in Psychiatric Settings
  • Experience of being involved in management and Quality Improvement activities
  • Experience of teaching undergraduate medical students and staff of other disciplines
  • Research experience within medicine
  • Taking the lead role in any of: QIP/Teaching Initiative/Research Project/Publication
  • Giving a presentation at national or international level
