A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Food Service Assistant to join our friendly and hardworking Catering Team on a 12-month fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave. If you wish to apply for this post as a secondment opportunity, you will need to discuss with your line manager before submitting an application.
Based within our busy hospital café, you'll play an important role in providing a welcoming and efficient service to staff, visitors and members of the public. No two days are the same – one minute you could be preparing and serving food, the next chatting with customers, operating the till, helping to keep the café clean and tidy, or supporting colleagues behind the scenes.
As part of NHS Shetland's Catering Team, you'll help provide a high-quality food service that supports the wellbeing of our staff and visitors. The work you do will make a real difference every day.
We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people, has a positive approach, and thrives as part of a team. Previous catering, hospitality or customer service experience would be an advantage, but most importantly we're looking for someone with enthusiasm, a willingness to learn and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
We are committed to supporting our staff and helping them develop their skills. You'll receive a full induction, training and ongoing support from your manager and colleagues to help you succeed in the role.
Working within Catering offers the opportunity to gain experience across a range of facilities services, including catering, domestic services and laundry, for those interested in developing their skills further.
Hours of work are primarily daytime shifts, Monday to Friday, with occasional opportunities to work weekends when additional cover is required.
If you're looking for a rewarding role where you can make a positive difference while working in a supportive team environment, we'd love to hear from you.
You will be expected to comply with the Induction Standards and Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers within 3 months of commencing your role – details can be viewed on http://www.hcswtoolkit.nes.scot.nhs.uk/resources/hcsw-standards-and-codes/
