We have a great opportunity for Bank Porters to join our team at Queen's Hospital, Burton upon Trent (DE13 0RB).

Porters provide support and assistance to healthcare professionals and play a crucial role in maintaining service levels during peak periods and staff shortages, ensuring that patient care remains uninterrupted.

Porters are a valued part of our workforce, providing an essential service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

A Bank contract offers flexible working hours. You are not committed to a set number of hours per week; instead, you work on an ad hoc basis, covering shifts that become available.

A Bank contract is ideal for individuals seeking flexibility, as it allows you to choose shifts that fit around your availability, helping to achieve a better work–life balance. Bank work is also a fantastic way to secure additional income alongside other contracted employment.

The role involves working under the direction of the Portering Supervisor on duty and covers a wide range of responsibilities, including transporting patients, specimens, beds, meal trolleys, medical gases, linen, and other essential items and supplies. A full manual driving licence is essential to this role.

A shift pattern is in place, and below are examples of the hours you may be asked to cover:

  • 06:00 – 15:00
  • 09:00 – 17:00
  • 13:30 – 22:00
  • 22:00 – 06:00

Enhancements are paid for lates, weekends, nights and bank holidays.
