University Hospitals Sussex are delighted to offer the position of a full (or part) time Specialty Doctor in Haematology for a period of 12 months (from 2 September 2026 to 2 September 2027) to cover maternity leave to work alongside our team of 6 Haematologists, 3 Specialty Registrar’s and 5 Haematology Specialist nurses in the Western half of the trust. This position is based primarily in Worthing Hospital on the beautiful South Coast. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and forward looking colleague to work within our close knit team.
The Haematology department provides an extensive haemato-oncology practice to level 2b care, as well as general haematology incl obstetrics and paediatrics, transfusion medicine and is a UKHCDO accredited Haemophilia Centre
This post offers an excellent opportunity to further develop an interest in Haematology and the successful candidate will be expected to have some experience in managing haematology patients in both a ward and outpatient setting.
Main duties of the job
To support the Haematology team in providing full clinical care to those with blood disorders and inpatient care to those with haematological malignancy up to and including BSCH level 2B care.
To support colleagues with specialist advice on all aspects of Haematology both within the trust and in primary care.
To provide clinical support to the Haematology Laboratory
To actively engage in departmental meetings, clinical governance and teaching to our resident doctors
To become actively involved in our Haematology trials portfolio
