Job overview

This role is offered on a permanent basis. The hours are part-time, 18.75 hours per week.

The post holder is responsible for supporting clinical and non-clinical staff in all GHC localities by ensuring staff are appropriately fit tested to available FFP3 respirator masks. The post holder will document results digitally and support the team with administration and booking of staff testing.

Main duties of the job

  • Manage enquiries that require a response from the fit testing team, effectively and efficiently to avoid unnecessary waiting times/lost referrals.
  • Accurately enter data on appropriate systems in accordance with Information Governance policy.
  • Demonstrates appropriate use of PPE when completing tests in clinical areas and able to communicate with colleagues about use of FFP3 masks
  • Undertake fit testing accurately as per procedure, communicating clear instructions to those undertaking the test
  • Ensure all fit testing results are communicated and recorded appropriately in line with service guidelines.
  • Ensures fit testing equipment is kept clean and maintained and ensure that a thorough decontamination is completed at the end of each day.
  • Researches and assesses fit testing methods and equipment, and FFP3 masks where required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To support the provision of Fit Testing of trust staff to FFP3 respirators
  • Participate in the performance of appropriate tasks necessary for the completion of fit tests, including the communication of results.
  • To identify tasks that facilitate the smooth running of the Fit Testing Team, including the preparation of equipment and documentation required for the successful delivery of testing.
  • To assist with the provision of the testing service, liaising with staff across clinical teams.
  • Ensure information relating to the fit testing service is recorded accurately, including the documentation of activity in adherence to information governance policy.
  • To communicate with staff via telephone, in person and through email, giving clear instructions and sign-posting where appropriate.
  • The post holder will have the responsibility for participating as a key member of the wider operational teams and other agencies to promote and maintain safe management and testing and the provision of FFP3 and PPE (Personal protective Equipment)to clinical teams.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE/ O Levels education (9-4/A*- C) in Maths and English (or equivalent literacy and numeracy)
  • NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or equivalent experience
  • European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)

Other Requirements

Essential

  • Ability to travel around the locality as requested, independently and efficiently. (If you have a full driving licence there will be an expectation to drive trust vehicles where required)
  • Expected to work occasional weekends with notice and in agreement with line manager to meet service demand.
