Fire Safety Officer - Band 6 - Full time - Permanent
The postholder will be responsible for: -
- Delivering the Trust’s Fire Safety Training Programme.
- Undertaking Fire Risk Assessments within Trust occupied buildings (inc. community premises).
- Undertaking Fire Safety Audits.
- Responding to day-to-day Fire Safety matters/concerns.
- Updating & maintaining Fire Safety Documents to ensure compliance with Fire Safety legislation.
- Liaison with key internal & external stakeholders.
- Providing advice on fire legislation.
- Providing advice on the application and interpretation of fire safety guidance, including the Department of Health FIRECODE suite of advice documents.
Main duties of the job
- Undertake initial Fire Risk Assessments (FRA’s) and review current FRAs where necessary. Undertake Fire Safety Audits for all Trust Premises. Deliver the Fire Safety Training programme for staff (including the delivery of ‘Ad-Hoc’ training when required) across the Stockport NHS Foundation Trust and Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. Maintain an awareness of changes in fire safety legislation and guidance to ensure the Trust meets it obligations around Fire Safety. Carry out regular inspections of work sites to ensure that fire safety is being maintained. Provide recommendations on proposals for new build/refurbishment projects. When requested provide advice on general and specialist fire precautions and legislation. Ensure all wards, departments and units have local plans in place detailing the actions to be taken in case of fire. Ensure these are reviewed regularly and their contents understood by staff. To understand the work practices of wards and departments throughout the Trust and ensure that fire safety measures are compatible with the operational compatibility of the Trust.

This is due to the position not meeting the minimum salary threshold of £41,700 per annum and/or the required skill level set by UK Visas and Immigration.
