The Estates Manager (Projects) will be responsible for providing specialist engineering support to both Operational Estates and Capital Projects functions across the Trust.
The post holder will work as an integrated member of the Estates and Facilities team and act as the principal engineering interface for capital developments, ensuring that engineering, compliance and operational requirements are fully considered throughout project delivery.
The role will provide professional engineering advice relating to building services, infrastructure, plant and equipment, supporting the delivery of minor and major capital schemes, backlog maintenance programmes, statutory compliance works and estate improvement projects.
The post holder will work closely with Operational Estates, Capital Projects teams, Authorising Engineers, consultants and contractors to ensure engineering systems are designed, installed, commissioned and maintained in accordance with relevant legislation, HTMs, HBNs and Trust policies.
The post holder will undertake Authorised Person responsibilities in designated disciplines as determined by the Trust and provide specialist technical advice within those areas.
The role will contribute to the management of engineering services, contractor performance, project delivery, statutory compliance and the efficient operation of the Trust estate whilst supporting the delivery of the Trust’s capital investment programme.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be an integrated member of the Estates and Facilities team and will act as the principal engineering liaison for capital projects, ensuring that engineering, operational and statutory requirements are identified, incorporated and delivered throughout the project lifecycle.
The post holder will provide professional and technical engineering advice, support, instruction and guidance to Estates colleagues, Capital Projects staff, consultants and contractors, ensuring that engineering infrastructure, plant and building services are maintained, developed and commissioned in accordance with statutory requirements, Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs), Health Building Notes (HBNs), Trust policies and recognised best practice.
The role will support the development and delivery of minor and major capital schemes, backlog maintenance programmes, statutory compliance projects and estate improvement initiatives whilst maintaining focus on the operational requirements of a live healthcare environment.
The post holder will undertake Authorised Person (AP) responsibilities in designated disciplines as required by the Trust and ensure that engineering standards, safety and compliance requirements are maintained across both operational estates activities and capital developments.

Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in mechanical or electrical building services operations and maintenance
- Experience with asset maintenance management systems
- Understanding of LOLER vertical transportation
- Conversant with pressure systems regulations
- Conversant with current IEE Regulations
- Understanding of Electricity at Work Regulations in relation to LV/HV
- Understanding of water systems & ACOP L8
- Understanding of Fire Protection & Detection Systems.
- Understanding of HVAC system
- Experience of working across organisational boundaries to improve standard
- Experience in providing technical support to capital project.
Desirable
- Experience in Healthcare environment
- Understanding of Health & Safety issues relating to hospital building services
- Use of CAD systems
- Experience of medical gas pipeline systems
- Understanding of Health Technical Memorandum (HTM)
- Knowledge of Micad.

- Educated to degree level, prepared to work towards a degree, or holds an acceptable qualification with relevant experience
