Job overview

Are you an experienced pharmacist with an interest in digital transformation and improving the way medicines are managed?

This is an exciting opportunity to bring together your clinical pharmacy expertise, leadership skills and interest in digital healthcare as an EPR Pharmacy Configuration Manager.

Working as part of the multidisciplinary Digital Services team, you will play a key role in developing pharmacy functionality within the Trust’s Electronic Patient Record (EPR). You will help shape medicines-related processes, enhance clinical workflows and ensure digital solutions support the safe, effective and efficient delivery of patient care.

Main duties of the job

This is an ideal opportunity for a motivated and forward-thinking pharmacist who enjoys problem-solving, collaborative working and using technology to make a meaningful difference to clinical practice.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As EPR Pharmacy Configuration Manager, you will provide specialist pharmacy and digital expertise, taking responsibility for the development, maintenance and ongoing improvement of pharmacy functionality within the EPR.

Working closely with pharmacy teams, clinicians, EPR analysts, Digital Services colleagues and system suppliers, you will identify opportunities to enhance medicines-management processes and ensure solutions meet clinical, operational and regulatory requirements.

You will coordinate system testing and upgrades, oversee pharmacy-related EPR projects, investigate and resolve system issues, and contribute to effective change control, documentation, reporting and audit processes.

The role also includes providing leadership and line management to EPR analysts, supporting their development and helping to build a knowledgeable and effective team.

You will work autonomously as a key member of the wider multidisciplinary EPR and Digital Services team, managing competing priorities and building strong relationships with clinical, operational and digital colleagues.

With responsibility for the Willow/Pharmacy workstream, you will use your specialist pharmacy knowledge and digital expertise to ensure the EPR continues to meet the needs of patients, pharmacy services and clinical teams.

Key responsibilities

You will:

  • Provide specialist pharmacy and EPR advice across the Trust.
  • Lead the configuration, maintenance and ongoing development of pharmacy-related EPR functionality.
  • Review medicines-management processes and identify opportunities to enhance safety, efficiency and user experience.
  • Ensure digital developments comply with medicines legislation, clinical safety requirements and relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Coordinate testing for system changes, upgrades and interfaces to ensure solutions are safe, secure and robust.
  • Work collaboratively with pharmacy teams, clinicians, EPR analysts, Digital Services colleagues and system suppliers.
  • Lead pharmacy-related EPR projects and support the professional development of analysts within the team.
  • Investigate and resolve system issues, escalating significant risks when required.
  • Maintain effective change control, documentation, reporting, auditing and appropriate system access.
  • Champion effective use of the EPR to support medicines optimisation, reduce prescribing errors and help the Trust maximise the benefits of its digital technology.
