Hosted by Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital, the NIHR Central and North West Midlands Commercial Research Delivery Centre (C&NWM CRDC) is a newly established organisation. You will join a collaborative, forward-thinking team with a strong shared commitment to innovation, inclusivity and delivery at pace with a one-NIHR ethos.
Our work is underpinned by a supportive and collaborative culture that encourages initiative, partnership working and continuous learning. Together, we are focused on increasing the number of commercial trials and participants, ensuring recruitment better reflects the diversity of our communities, and removing bottlenecks in commercial study set-up and delivery to improve efficiency and impact.
We operate through a federated, networked model that brings together expertise, capacity and capability from our partner organisations. This creates a dynamic and varied working environment, offering the opportunity to collaborate widely, develop new skills, and contribute meaningfully to improving access to high-quality commercial research for patients and communities across the region.
This role suits someone with a strong understanding of commercial clinical trials, the national research landscape, and the challenges and opportunities within it. You will thrive in a collaborative team environment, able to build positive working relationships, network effectively across organisations, and use initiative and problem-solving skills to overcome barriers.
You will bring excellent communication skills, a positive and flexible approach to change, and a genuine passion for improving how research is delivered. Through your work, you will help strengthen the West Midlands’ reputation as an attractive, high-performing region for commercial research.
You will act as a connector across care settings in Birmingham and Solihull, working with NHS, academic and industry partners to deliver a seamless, high-performing service. By building strong, trusted relationships, you’ll develop a detailed understanding of local research capacity and capability, supporting our federated approach to growing high-quality commercial research across the region.
Working closely with the Project Manager, you will coordinate the set up and delivery of commercial clinical trials, proactively identifying and resolving challenges. In partnership with the Head of Workforce Capacity and Capability, you will contribute to mapping activities, enabling rapid connections across the system, and support the development and delivery of training and initiatives that strengthen research capacity and capability.
Alongside this, you’ll play an active role in service improvement, data quality, training and regional collaboration.
