The opportunity has arisen for experienced Band 4 nurse Associates to further develop their clinical skills within Endoscopy. This is a challenging and exciting role which encompasses acute clinical skills. It will enable the provision of high-quality patient care and operational management of the department whilst ensuring patient safety and delivery of high quality care. Our unit currently has 5 procedure rooms at Royal Cornwall Hospital and 1 procedure room at West Cornwall Hospital. We also carry out procedures in the Newlyn Unit. We perform inpatient and elective outpatient procedures. The aim of our unit is to consistently provide and maintain high standards of quality care and the successful applicant will need to focus on continued self-education and training to provide this care and act as a role model to others
Main duties of the job
Participate in the delivery of patient care.
Contribute towards ward / department organisation.
Give support to registered Nurses and Midwives in the provision of a safe and caring environment.
The Band 4 Assistant Practitioner demonstrates a level of skill and understanding which enables them to undertake specific tasks delegated by the Nurse / Midwife in charge and in accordance with relevant procedures, guidelines and policies. They will undertake both routine and specially identified tasks for which they have been trained and assessed as competent.
It is expected that Assistant Practitioners will be able to carry out all of the core competencies outlined in the Assistant Practitioners Governance Framework, but their duties and competencies will vary according to speciality agreed extended competencies. Similar or related duties may be undertaken in support of the ward environment, which are not listed.
Demonstrate throughout all interventions and tasks the six C's of Nursing (Jane Cummins CNO): Courage, Care, Compassion, Communication, Competency and Commitment.
