The Endoscopy Decontamination Technician will support the delivery of endoscopy decontamination services and the safe handling, cleaning, testing and storage of endoscopy equipment, working in line with current HHFT standards and procedures.
The post holder will play an active role in the Trusts decontamination services for endoscopy, with advice and guidance from the decontamination manager including providing a professional advisory role in line with the National guidelines and be responsible for the implementation of all statuary, regulatory and Trust requirements. This will also be to introduce, implement and manage work standards and practices, as well as managing the risks consistent with clinical governance and JAG compliance.
The post holder will perform a full range of decontamination duties and be accountable for their work area within the endoscopy department, ensuring decontamination records are accurately completed and maintained. They will interpret and review technical data and production reports as required, and support the training of less experienced staff under appropriate supervision.
To assist with the development of the departments standard operating procedures in accordance with quality management systems and ensure staff compliance with them.
To be able to plan your own workload and work with minimal managerial direction.
Main duties of the job
- To be accountable for the delivery of flexible endoscope decontamination service within professional standards
- To ensure that the equipment used for providing the service is maintained as regulatory standards dictate and authorise safe use of equipment after validating the engineers test reports.
- Develop a quality improvement culture within the service , encouraging all staff to deliver a continuous improvement in the quality of the service.
- Manage all endoscopy equipment including training, repairs and procurement.
- Ensure that the delivery of the service is carried out within the laws pertaining to the transportation of dangerous goods act.
- To maintain, develop and record your own professional development , including booking and attending all statuary and mandatory training.
- To manage the service within the budget and support the trust in identifying cost efficiencies and ensure the service provides value for money.
- Attend the endoscopy users group meeting and feedback to the decontamination staff accordingly .
- Arrange regular meetings with the decontamination team and involve them in and advise them of service developments.
- Evaluate equipment usage and ensure that resource's are allocated appropriately based on service needs and demand.
- Monitor workload, performance and achievement of targets.
