The Community Minor Injury Units are based in Abingdon on Thames, Witney, and Henley on Thames, their is also a First Aid Unit in Bicester. The MIUs see approximately 4000 patients across the service per month, making a real difference, providing care closer to home and avoiding admission to hospital wherever possible and appropriate.

The Minor Injury units are open 7 days a week, 365 days per year. We are happy to consider full or part time hours.

The GP OoH services runs when the GP surgeries are closed and manages referrals from 111. The role includes learning about telephone triage, supporting base visits and home visiting.

The role offers excellent opportunities in career development in injury and illness management at an Advanced level accredited through West London University. Study is based in Oxford.

The ability to travel independently between sites within the Trust is essential for this role.

Main duties of the job

• You will be a Registered Nurse or Paramedic with the desire to autonomously assess and treat patients presenting with Minor Injuries and Minor Illness either as walk ins or via 111.
• You will have excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills along with the ability to lead together with a passion to provide patient centred care.
• Actively promote, encourage and participate in regular teaching/training sessions to the multi-disciplinary team to maintain a positive learning environment.
• Promote and safeguard the interests and well-being of patients and staff.
• Maintain self-development, acknowledge training needs and always promote evidence-based practice.
• Liaise with General Practitioners/Acute Trust in patient specialities regarding patient management whilst on home visits
• Assess, Diagnose, treat, discharge/refer patients according to the clinical guidelines and PGD’s within the base and within the patient’s home.
• To be NMC/HCPC qualified with passion and drive for developing your clinical skills in a changeable environmentA keen interest in new and upcoming technologies within Nursing and HealthcareBe self-motivated and able to work autonomously as well as showing initiative and promoting new ideas on how to improve the serviceBe compassionate, caring and creative with excellent communication skillsA flexible and positive attitude with a willingness to accommodate our 24/7 service.
