As a consultant in Emergency Medicine, you will join a highly experienced, multicultural team and benefit from a competitive package which includes admin/SPA.
You will also be able to work the bulk of your SPA time flexibly, by agreement with the Clinical Director and Service Manager. The department is led by a highly motivated group of consultants who are committed to providing high level care with a drive to develop the service further.
Our department is one of the busiest in the North West. In August 2024, we have opened the state-of-the-art new build, designed with a large 10 bedded resuscitation room, Urgent Care area, Paediatric Emergency Department, integrated Radiology Hub including plain film and 1 CT scanner.
Main duties of the job
- The post-holder be expected to work with other members of the Emergency Medicine Team to provide first class clinical care in Emergency Medicine. The successful candidate will see patients personally and will provide clinical leadership, and supervision/teaching of junior medical and nursing staff.
- The post holder will be expected to take an appropriate share in the management and administrative workload of the Department. All Consultants are involved in planning and developing the service.
- The department actively encourages the development of specialist interests within the Emergency Medicine field.
- Participate in the development of the Emergency Medicine service treatment protocols and guidelines
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with medical colleagues in other specialities and participate in regular clinical meetings and other postgraduate activities.
- Participate in the on-call rota on an equal basis with consultant colleagues to ensure that appropriate Emergency services are provided out of normal working hours.
- Take an appropriate share of responsibility for the professional supervision and development of trainee doctors within the specialty, to include appraisal.
