We are recruiting for Emergency Care Assistants who wish to join #TeamIOWNHS. You should share our passion and drive to ensure that our patients receive quality and compassionate care and work with us to ensure the Trust continues its journey towards “great people, great place”.
The role will be based at the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service station which is at St Mary's Hospital, full training will be provided.
Applicants will need to have a minimum of a provisional C1 driving licence and have passed both their theory and hazard perception tests before their start date.
Main duties of the job
The job purpose is to support clinically qualified practitioners / Registered Professionals in the provision of high quality and effective pre-hospital clinical care to the community, responding, when appropriate using advanced emergency driving skills, to medical emergencies, inter-hospital transfers, urgent hospital admissions and other allocated operational duties commensurate with the role and responsibilities, supporting the provision of clinical, social and holistic care to patients in a pre-hospital environment, safely and within appropriate level of training and competency.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To assist the patient in all activities of daily living, with both direct and indirect supervision as delegated by a registered nurse.
- Maintain patient comfort, dignity and privacy at all times.
- Prepare patients drinks, serve meals and provide assistance as required.
- Assist in the emergency resuscitation of patients, following appropriate training.
- Escort patients to other areas and departments as per Trust escort protocol.
- Maintain high standards of care in an environment which promotes equality and sensitivity for all individuals.
