Senior BMS (Band 7), Pathology Department, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary

37 hours per week, Pathology Department Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen within the Pathology laboratory for a Senior Biomedical Scientist. Registration with the Health Care Professions Council is essential. MSc in Biomedical Science or demonstrable equivalent experience is desirable. Extensive specialist knowledge and at least 5 years’ experience in a diagnostic Histopathology laboratory is also essential.

The laboratory is responsible for providing a diagnostic service to NHS Grampian, NHS Orkney and NHS Shetland and includes Histology, Cytology and Immunocytochemistry.

The post holder will

• Organise, supervise and assist in the day-to-day operation of the laboratory
• Cover for more senior staff in their absence
• Be involved in the production of the SOP’s and safety assessments
• Be involved in training new BMS staff, and undergraduate placement students.
