As an Education Mental Health Professional (EMHP), you will be based within our Mental Health Support Team (MHST) in Basingstoke, Fareham, Havant or Romsey & District, working alongside various mental health professionals.
You will work in education settings and in the community delivering a range of evidence informed interventions, under supervision. You will undertake mental health assessments (including risk assessments) and interventions based on the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) model.
You will work directly with children and young people of primary and secondary school age, and in some cases their parents and carers. You will support MHST work to develop and deliver whole school approaches for emotional wellbeing and mental health.

Main duties of the job
To work as a member of a Mental Health Support Team in schools, providing a high quality, psychological therapy service to young people, their families, or carers. In addition, to support psychological practice within the team by communicating effectively about the psychological care of clients, by contributing to the supervision of psychological practitioners and trainees and less experienced psychological therapists, and by participating in systematic clinical governance.

Essential
- *Knowledge of educational environments.
- * Knowledge of safeguarding issues.
- * Knowledge of capacity and consent issues including Gillick competence.
- * Experience of working with children, young people and their families in a healthcare and education setting.
- * Experience of working and liaising with a wide variety of agencies and stakeholders.
- * Experience of working with children and young people who have social, emotional and/or behavioural difficulties.
- * Experience of working with anxiety disorders.
- * Experience of working with affective (mood) disorders.
- * Experience of the delivery of specific therapeutic interventions to children, young people, or their families (e.g. CBT, solution focused brief therapy).
Qualifications
Essential
- Successful completion of the HEE commissioned 1yr Education Mental Health Practitioner' course.
- A further degree qualification - Psychology or other health related undergraduate degree or demonstrate the ability to work at degree level (this will be assessed as a University entry requirement for the Band 4 EMHP Position)
- Registered with the BABCP or BPS
