We are pleased to offer several exciting opportunities for motivated and enthusiastic doctors at FY3 level (or equivalent) to join us as Education Fellows working across East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, in partnership with Brighton & Sussex Medical School and King’s College London GKT School of Medical Education.
These roles provide a unique chance to gain invaluable experience in medical education, working within one of the region’s largest integrated care providers and two outstanding medical schools. You will join dynamic education teams to help deliver innovative, integrated, and high‑quality educational programmes for Undergraduate Medical Students and Resident Doctors.
The Trust supports approximately 400 Resident Doctors across Foundation, Core, GP and Higher Specialty programmes. Educational delivery is overseen through a strengthened Interprofessional Educational Governance Structure, including:
- Local Faculty Groups
- Support of Integrated Education Service including DME/Education Leads
- Education Assurance Group (Interprofessional remit)
- Regional wide Quality & Governance Assurance processes
- External quality oversight by the GMC National Training Survey (NTS), and the wider National Training Survey.
This governance structure ensures high standards in learning environments, student experience, and clinical education.
Main duties of the job
As an Education Fellow, you will contribute primarily to Undergraduate Medical Education, with opportunities to support selected Postgraduate Medical Education activities depending on interests and service needs. This is a leadership‑development role offering exposure to Trust‑wide education processes.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering clinical skills, simulation, bedside and small‑group teaching
- Coordinating and supporting undergraduate teaching activities across multiple specialties
- Contributing to educational leadership, including teaching planning, curriculum support and interprofessional teaching initiatives
- Leading or participating in Quality Improvement (QI) projects focused on education, learning environments, or clinical teaching
- Developing and evaluating teaching materials, digital learning resources and assessment formats
- Supporting interprofessional education within Trust governance structures
- Working closely with Resident Doctor Representatives and Local Faculty Groups
- Supporting student experience, placement organisation and educational governance evaluation
