The post holder will play a senior leadership role within a specialist team delivering and shaping an innovative violence reduction service embedded within the Emergency Department (ED).

They will contribute to the strategic development, operational management, and continuous improvement of the service, ensuring high-quality, trauma-informed interventions are consistently delivered.

Main duties of the job

  • Work autonomously across the Emergency Department and community settings to identify, assess, and engage individuals affected by violence, exploitation, trauma, and safeguarding risks
  • Manage a specialist caseload of high-risk and complex cases, leading on safeguarding decisions, risk management, referrals, and multi-agency coordination.
  • Deliver comprehensive trauma-informed assessments and develop tailored intervention, safety, and support plans to reduce harm and prevent re-attendance.
  • Build trusted relationships with individuals at the “reachable moment” using trauma-informed and motivational approaches to encourage positive change and engagement.
  • Provide senior leadership within the Navigator team, including supervision, appraisals, training, induction, and professional support for staff.
  • Maintain safe and effective practice across the service, acting as a role model and escalation point for complex safeguarding and operational issues.
  • Lead on service development, audit, quality improvement, data monitoring, and reporting to ensure compliance and demonstrate service impact
  • Develop strong multi-agency partnerships and represent the Navigator service in safeguarding, strategy, and partnership forums to coordinate effective support and advocacy.
