Job summary

Synchronicity Care Limited (SCL) are a wholly owned subsidiary company of County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust (CDDFT). Synchronicity Care Limited (SCL) provides a range of non-clinical Estates, Facilities and Procurement services to CDDFT.

An excellent opportunity has arisen within Synchronicity Care Limited (SCL) for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and committed individual to influence and contribute as part of the Domestic Services Team at the University Hospital North Durham,

The Domestic & Linen Services Supervisor will support the Domestic & Linen Services Manager in ensuring that the Domestic & Linen Service delivery to County Durham and Darlington Foundation Trust (CDDFT) are maintained within contractual parameters and Synchronicity Care Limited (SCL) budget as set.

They will also support, monitor and assist in developing the service to the satisfaction of the SCL, CDDFT and other PFI Partners, ensuring standards set by the company are followed to ensure the consistent delivery of service through adhering to the contract specification and establishing good working relationships with stakeholders

Main duties of the job

The post holder will effectively support and supervise the domestic & linen services team using available resources, whilst maintaining and continuing to improve the quality of the service. This includes monitoring the levels of cleanliness within the hospital environment, ensuring adherence to National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness 2025, all relevant method statements, policies and procedures, ensuring corrective measures are taken within agreed rectification times.

The post holder will be expected to co-ordinate and effectively communicate with other departments within the hospital environment and across the Trust as appropriate.

Job responsibilities

To maintain, audit and monitor cleaning standards aligned to the National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness 2025 and linen standards within your areas of responsibility to agreed national guidelines, Trust requirements and take corrective action where required.

Responsible for ensuring the correct application of the Quality Management System where it interfaces with their daily activities

Safe use of chemicals, machinery and appropriate use of P.P.E. (Personal Protective Equipment) by staff under your control.

Control the issue of appropriate cleaning items for use at departmental level.

Maintain staffing rotas / schedules as specified and ensure any remedial tasks are carried out in a timely fashion.

Ensure departmental resources are correctly managed and maintained throughout the work area e.g., stock and equipment.

Report any structural or fabric repairs to be made good via appropriate systems.

Monitor staff for adherence to all relevant policies and procedures that are relevant to the area and that they are working in a safe manner.

Identify staff training / development needs using the Trusts appraisal system.

Organise appropriate training for the various staff groups under your control including new employees.

Present accurately collected and analysed information to the Head of Operational Services to facilitate the effective use of departmental budgetary resources.

Assist in the development of departmental policies and procedures and oversee their implementation.

Organise and control the staff rotas to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained at all times.

Maintain appropriate records to ensure compliance with all current Trust policies and procedures.

Monitor staff time sheets / attendance and sickness records in accordance with the relevant Trust policies and procedures.

Help carry out Facilities Services orientated duties as required.

Specialist Cleaning Activities:

To undertake any specialised cleaning (HPV cleaning) as and when instructed by a supervisor or manager following appropriate protocols and completion of associated documentation
