Job overview
This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced senior people professional to join the NHS Wales community and work across the NHS Wales system with employers, Welsh Government, trade union partners and key stakeholders.
The role will act as a key contact for collective workforce issues, coordinating and representing Health Boards and Trusts in influencing and developing workforce policy.
Responsibilities include horizon scanning emerging issues, assessing their impact and determining appropriate action; representing Welsh employers in UK discussions on pay, pensions and terms and conditions; communicating emerging policy; and project managing complex negotiations.
The postholder will provide expertise on employment policy and good practice and coordinate the development and review of workplace policies, guidance and position statements in partnership with employers, trade unions and Welsh Government.
The role will provide impartial workforce advice and support, particularly to Chief Executives and Directors of Workforce & OD, while facilitating effective relationships between key stakeholders to support workforce policy and good practice.
Main duties of the job
The Role
An exciting opportunity to take on a senior national role within NHS Wales, providing leadership, advice and representation on workforce and employee relations matters. The successful candidate will lead the NHS Wales Employers’ remit, representing employing organisations on NHS terms and conditions, workforce policy and strategy.
Working closely with NHS Wales Directors of Workforce and OD, Welsh Government and the Welsh NHS Confederation, the postholder will influence workforce policy and support effective engagement across NHS Wales.
The Person
We are seeking a compassionate, highly motivated and experienced Director with a strong track record in Workforce, People or OD. Experience within health, care or related sectors is desirable, alongside the ability to drive cultural change, strengthen employee relations and develop innovative approaches to workforce policy, pay and reward.
You will be a credible and collaborative leader, able to build strong relationships with key stakeholders and empower workforce teams to deliver NHS Wales’ strategic priorities.
Experience of the NHS Wales system is desirable, but applications are welcomed from experienced Directors across the UK. The role is available through direct appointment or secondment from a UK NHS organisation.
