This is an exciting opportunity to lead and deliver complex, high‑impact digital programmes that directly support clinical teams, improve patient safety, and enhance the flow of care across our acute hospitals.

About the Role

As a Programme Manager within Digital Services, Strategy, Programmes & Innovation team, you will provide senior leadership to the delivery of large‑scale digital programmes, with a particular focus on:

  • Acute hospital digital workflows
  • Interface care and virtual
  • Clinical systems and service redesign
  • Digital solutions that support patient pathways from admission to discharge
  • Preparing for and supporting emerging sub‑national digital planning arrangements

You will act as the focal point of expertise for assigned digital systems and programmes, translating complex clinical and operational needs into effective, sustainable digital solutions. Working closely with clinicians, operational leaders, technical teams, and suppliers, you will ensure programmes are delivered safely, on time, and deliver real benefits for patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Lead the end‑to‑end delivery of complex digital programmes and projects, ensuring alignment with NHSGGC and national digital strategies
  • Drive delivery of digital solutions within health settings, supporting safe, efficient, and joined‑up care
  • Supporting cross‑Board and sub‑national planning activity
  • Work closely with clinical and operational teams to understand workflows and redesign services enabled by digital technology
  • Provide strong programme governance, including risk, issue, dependency and benefits management
  • Manage budgets, resources, and suppliers, ensuring value for money and measurable outcome
  • Ensure solutions meet all information governance, security, clinical safety, and regulatory requirements
  • Work with a wide range of clinical, operational and digital stakeholders to support effective delivery and change
  • Influence and engage senior clinicians and managers to support adoption and culture change
  • Act as a credible digital advisor across the organisation, contributing to the wider Digital Strategy

About You

We are looking for someone who combines strong programme leadership skills with a genuine passion for improving patient care through digital innovation.

You will bring:

  • Significant senior‑level experience delivering IT / digital programmes within the NHS or health and care sector
  • A strong track record of managing complex programmes, budgets, and multi‑disciplinary teams
  • Experience working with clinical systems and supporting service change in acute environments
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence at senior clinical and managerial levels
  • The ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and maintain momentum in complex environments

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Experience working with TrakCare or similar patient administration / EPR systems
  • Formal project or programme management qualifications (e.g. PRINCE2, MSP)
  • Experience working across multiple organisations or at regional / national level

If you have not worked directly with TrakCare but bring strong acute digital programme experience, we would still welcome your application.

Why Join NHSGGC Digital?

  • Be part of one of the largest and most ambitious digital health agendas in Scotland
  • Work on programmes that have real, visible impact on patient safety and staff experience
  • Collaborate with passionate clinicians, digital specialists and national partners
  • Enjoy flexible and hybrid working, with a strong emphasis on wellbeing and development

AI tools like ChatGPT or Copilot can be great for planning and preparing your application, but your answers must be your own.

  • Show us the real you: Your application should reflect your skills, experience, and motivations authentically.
  • Use AI wisely: It’s fine to use AI for ideas or to check spelling and grammar, but don’t let it write your answers.
  • Why this matters: Applications that rely on AI-generated content may be withdrawn. By applying, you confirm your responses are based on your own knowledge and achievements.

Tip: Think of AI as a helper, not a substitute. We want to understand you, not an AI tool.
