There is two exciting developmental roles over 3 years where the successful candidates must be willing to apply for and complete an apprenticeship programme.  On this, you will work towards successful completion of a BSc (Hons) degree in Dietetics and recognition by the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Allied Health Professional (AHP) Dietitian.

Please note the recruitment process is a 2 stage interview:

Stage 1) with dietitians/MDT staff members at GSTT (via MS Teams).

Candidates successful at stage 1 will then be put forward to stage 2

Stage 2) Interview with the University (On MS Teams)

Main Duties of the Job:

You will develop and maintain knowledge, skills and competencies related to the role of a Dietitian through your apprenticeship within the service as well as through completion of the Dietetic Apprenticeship training programme. Whilst undertaking this training you will work within the service as a Dietitian Apprentice, where your role will reflect your learning. You will be released 1 day/week to attend University. Outside of your paid working hours, it will be necessary to undertake study in your own time in order to meet the requirements of the university programme.

On successful completion of the Programme you will be equipped with the appropriate knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours to ensure competence at the point of qualification and will be eligible to apply for HCPC registration as a Dietitian.

Main duties of the job

You can choose to work remotely from home for up to 2 days per week, or from our office sites in Elephant and Castle, or a combination of both. You will be delivering the online interventions, as well as delivering face-to-face groups at community sites across South East London. You will work 09:00-17:00 three days per week, and 11:30-19:30 two days per week. You must have a depth of experience of delivering behaviour change interventions to groups of patients with significantly complex health challenges, and be confident to do this using virtual platforms. You should have experience of delivering interventions to people from the Black African and Black Caribbean communities. You must have a developed understanding of weight bias and stigma in both healthcare and everyday life.

The main duties of the role include, but are not limited to:

• Running online group nutrition education sessions for patients, including those preparing for bariatric surgery
• Running online group education for patients taking GLP-1/GIP injectables
• 1:1 telephone support for bariatric  and or non bariatric patients requiring review, (under dietitian clinical supervision)
• Supporting senior dietitians with admin, project work and patient emails
• Supporting psychological screening of patients using validated questionnaires
• On site, supporting patient group starts of GLP-1/medication
• Supporting the wider MDT in Tier 4 and Tier 3 services
