We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 5 Radiographers to join our patient centered team of friendly Radiology staff at Prince Charles hospital, Merthyr Tydfil.

Applicants must possess a BSc (Hon)/ DCR (R) in Diagnostic Radiography and have current HCPC registration.  Applicants due to qualify in 2026 are  welcome to apply.

Prince Charles Hospital has undergoing an exciting refurbishment across all areas of the hospital making this an exiting time to join Cwm Taf Morgannwg University health board.

We offer a comprehensive preceptorship period for all new staff members, which allows us to support the successful candidates with their transition in to the department.

The department operates 24/7.  This post will include participation in the Out of Hours shift system.  This will include a variety of shift patterns, for example 9-5, 12hr day/night shifts and weekends.

Please note, there are 2 Band 5 posts available -  1 full time permanent  post, and 1 full time fixed term/secondment for 12 months to cover maternity leave. Main duties of the job

This post will involve a rotation through General, A&E , Fluoroscopy and Theatre & Portables.

The duties and responsibilities of the post holder include:

  • Maintaining a high standard of care to all service users
  • Providing a high standard of imaging, whilst ensuring all protocols/procedures are adhered too
  • Keep up to date with continuous professional development, maintaining an up-to-date record of CPD activities in line with the HCPC requirements
  • Participate in departmental QA programmes
  • Responsible for working within specified rules and regulations particularly relating to radiation safe

Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential;  whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above.
