Maternity Cover We are looking for two full time, fixed term Band 5 Radiographers to join our friendly Radiology team here at East Cheshire NHS Trust.

We are a fully digital department, with all plain film rooms and mobile machines being digital. We have two GE Lightspeed CT scanners and two 1.5T Siemens Magnetom Aera. All of our general rooms have recently been upgraded with Samsung and Fuji equipment and our Fluoroscopy room is a modern AGFA hybrid unit.

Our Radiology Department is proud to have been awarded Dementia Friendly status, with our success being documented on local media. We also have Autism Friendly status with a dedicated Autism link and Well-being champions within the department.

As a department, we support further professional development with encouraging role expansions into advanced practice, reporting, student mentors, apprenticeships, preceptorship and cross-sectional training.

East Cheshire NHS Trust has the appeal of being nestled in the foothills of the picturesque Peak District, with excellent transport links and proximity to the major cities of Manchester and Stoke-on-Trent, ensuring Macclesfield has something for everybody.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work in all aspects of plain film Radiography, including A&E, General, Orthopaedics, Mobiles and Theatre. The role will involve undertaking a range of clinical shifts, utilising your skills and knowledge to ensure the department continues to deliver a high standard of service.

During their first year of practice, all newly qualified Radiographers will undergo the Trust's recently updated Preceptorship Programme, that has been developed by dedicated Preceptorship Champions to ensure individuals feel valued and supported in their transition into life as a newly qualified autonomous Practitioner.

Person specification

Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of recent clinical experience, either pre or post registration
  • General Xray experience including A&E, theatre and mobiles
  • Relevant NHS Experience
  • Use of digital Radiographic equipment (DR)
  • Experience in CT – CT head and Cervical Spine

Desirable

  • Fluoroscopy and dental experience
  • Previous experience of working with a range of radiographic equipment and techniques
  • Experience in CT - complex scans including intravenous iodinated contrast scans

Qualifications

Essential

  • HCPC (Health & Care Professions Council) registration
  • BSc Degree in Radiography or equivalent Diploma (DCR)
  • Evidence of sound level of computer literacy

Desirable

  • Evidence of CPD activity

  • Sound Radiographic skills and knowledge including image appraisal
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and Infection control measures
  • Ability to demonstrate good organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to demonstrate own initiative and clinical judgement
  • Excellent understanding of IRMER (Ionising Radiation Medical Exposure Regulations) 2017
  • Self-motivated and conscientious. Can demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Able to assess a range of clinical situations and act appropriately
  • Ability to work within set protocols and standards of practice in line with the professional code of conduct
  • Ability to prioritise own workload and work effectively under pressure
  • Can demonstrate ability to effectively use PACS (Picture Archiving Communications System) and RIS (Radiology Information System) to access and manipulate images

Desirable

  • IV cannulation trained
  • Experience of QA
