Job overview

We are seeking enthusiastic a flexible, highly motivated and experienced radiographer to join our friendly and dynamic cross-sectional team in the beautiful county of Shropshire.

Applications are invited from enthusiastic and pro-active radiographers who are looking to expand their knowledge & develop new skills in CT and MRI. The successful applicants must have a BSc (Hon) Diagnostic Radiography or DCR, and current HCPC registration. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience /skills in either CT or MRI. Full training will be given in both modalities.

Your base hospital will be the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. Work pattern will be 12 hour shifts over a seven day week, giving an excellent work/life balance. The department has 3 MRI scanners (a mixture of Siemens Aera and Sola scanners) and 3 CT scanners (a mixture of Siemens Definition and Edge scanners). We carry out a wide range of scanning including CT/MRI cardiac, enterography, CT colonography, CT intervention and MR breast. You would be expected to rotate through all scanners in the department and our modern, purpose-built imaging hub incorporating new CT and MRI scanners. The department is fully committed to role extension and has practicing Radiographers undertaking Ultrasound, Barium Swallows, CT Colonoscopies and plain film reporting.

Main duties of the job

We are a training site for students from both Birmingham and Keele and have apprentices from Cumbria and Exeter, so you will be expected to be involved in their training and supervision, be enthusiastic about teaching and contribute to a culture of learning.

  • To carry out clinical and administrative work as a Senior member of the Radiology team
  • Carry out quality CT/ MRI imaging in line departmental protocols
  • Support the Modality Superintendent radiographers
  • Assisting in training other staff/ students
  • To provide a high quality service for patients across the department
  • Maintain cannulation skills for the administration of intravenous contrast media

Essential

  • IV Cannulation and administration of IV contrast media
  • Good communication skills
  • Knowledge of IRMER 2017
  • Evidence of computer literacy
  • Mentoring students/ new staff

Experience

Essential

  • Competency in a broad spectrum of CT scanning
  • Competency in a broad spectrum of MRI scanning
  • Previous experience of working/ training in an NHS hospital.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working as a band 5 or Band 6 Radiographer.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Diploma/BSc in Radiography
  • Current HCPC registration
  • Current visa to work in UK

Desirable

  • CT and or MRI Post graduate qualification
