We are looking to recruit a Band 6 Specialist Nurse in inflammatory skin disease and biologics at our Salford Dermatology Centre.
The nationally renowned Dermatology Centre at Salford Royal Hospital provides specialist services for Greater Manchester and a number of supra-regional services. These include a high profile Psoriasis service and the Specialist Centre For The Provision of Mohs Micrographic Surgery, in addition to being the host organisation for the Manchester Specialist Skin MDT.
The successful candidate will:
Work closely with all members of the multi professional team to ensure that patients receive seamless dermatology care within the Salford Care Organisation and community.
Provide specialist dermatology advice to support the assessment, planning and implementation of patients care, and where appropriate deliver programmes of care and education to patients with inflammatory skin disease who are being treated with topical and biologic therapies.
Mentorship and full training will be given through a local dermatology competency assessment framework to the successful candidate to become skilled in the field of inflammatory skin disease and biologics . Following successful completion of competencies, the specialist nurse will be expected to undertake the non-medical prescribing course to support prescribing within the team.
Main duties of the job
For this high profile and challenging role, a specialist interest in and knowledge of dermatology is required. You will have clinical experience working in a dermatology setting at Band 5 level.
Consideration will be given to recruiting a band five nurse into a training post role. Band 6 will be awarded after the successful candidate has completed training and competency assessments.
You will be working in conjunction with an established team of specialist nurses and the rest of the dermatology team. The emphasis will be very much on supporting the screening and monitoring of patients on topical treatments and disease modifying medication, and biological therapies, under the guidance of the Nurse Consultant and Consultant Dermatologists.
You will be responsible for screening, providing education, advice and follow up to support and empower patients to manage their own conditions effectively, thereby improving quality of life. This includes acting as a resource and support for local GPs, Community Nurses, and Home care Pharmacy teams.
You will be a highly motivated, self-managing nurse, with the drive and enthusiasm to continue to develop the Dermatology Nursing Service, coaching and supporting junior team members and students.
