We have an exciting  opportunity for a Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse to join  our busy multi - speciality Outpatients  Department within Loughborough or Melton Outpatients .  We cover a wide range of specialities including Dermatology, Ophthalmology, ENT, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics  and Rheumatology, along with Nurse Led - Light Therapy and Skin Analytics clinics.

We are looking for a dynamic forward thinking individual who is committed to providing the best care for our patients and who has a real passion for leading and nurturing teams.

We are offering a full time  Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse position.

The post will require you to lead the Loughborough or Melton Outpatients team with support from the Band 7 Community Outpatient Lead, ensuring safe timely care is delivered to our patients within the multidisciplinary team. Management responsibilities will include managing Healthroster, staff sickness, appraisals, clinic coordination and staff development/training, working in line with the trust vision. A flexible approach to working will be required. Previous Band 6/management experience would be advantageous but full training will be given to the right candidate.

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for delivering high quality patient experience by clinic co-ordination of the outpatients department.
  • Participate in the effective clinical leadership and management of the department team.
  • Supervision of others carrying out all aspects of the outpatients process, including the support of staff within Nurse Led Clinics.
  • Take charge of the given area with support from the Community Outpatient Lead who has 24 hour accountability and responsibility of the 6 Community Hospital Outpatient Departments.
  • Actively contribute to setting and maintaining high standards of quality nursing care.
  • Actively contribute to the improvement of services and the quality of care provision to meet the needs of patients, service users and their families.
  • Act as a role model, mentoring, teaching, assessing and supporting students and learners on placement and participate in the education, development and mentorship of other staff

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safe and effective co-ordination of all clinics on a daily basis, ensuring a high quality patient experience.
  • Provide advice, education, support and information to patients and their relatives / carers as required and involve patients, relatives / carers in the planning and delivery of care.
  • Undertake the Trust Corporate and Directorate specific Induction and competency Programmes appropriate to role
  • Work collaboratively with the Education and Practice Development team, Clinical Support Nurses and Multi Professional Teams to ensure that education and development opportunities are provided for Outpatient team to enable staff to be both confident and competent to perform their roles safely.
